Thanksgiving post...just in time for Christmas?

Thanksgiving morning started with that aforementioned 1/2 marathon fail.  Finding the silver lining in the day, me and Maggs got a chance to help our mom with some Thanksgiving morning baking.
Hard at work on desserts.
Me?  Pumpkin Trifle  (click for the original Kallie and Maggie recipe)
Maggs?  Peanut Butter Pie
All together now...YUM.
My mom's vintage drink glasses are clutch.  The colored glasses are one of my favorite part of holiday meals and are a festive way to dress up any table.

Since one day I am going to be in charge of doing this all myself, I figured I make a note of everything we have as a little reminder to myself.  There is seriously no place I'd rather celebrate Thanksgiving just because our food is so dang good.  Our stuffing doesn't taste like glue, our turkey isn't dry, the mashed potatoes aren't from a bag, etc.
Turkey, my mom's AMAZING green bean casserole (mom's >>the type of the cream of mushroom can), sweet potato casserole, stuffing with herbs the girlies, cornbread stuffing for Weavie, mashed potatoes, yeast rolls, cranberry sauce, peanut butter pie and pumpkin trifile.  MMM.
Trifiling, no?
Post food coma photo shoot with my great Aunt Ruth, my grandma's sister. 3 generations of family in one photo!

And our lovely holiday ended with a trip to the movies with my sister and my dad.

Thanksgiving, thank you for coming once a year and giving everyone a chance to stop and specifically remember to pause and be thankful for all the many blessings we have.

  1. I love the title of this post almost as much as that trifle and trifle dish! It's taller than most, or at least appears to be, and allows for more layers and prettiness :)
